Savings of $21,000 / truck / year motivates mine operator to install pre-cleaners on fleet
With a proven achievable savings of $21,000 a year per truck, mine site operator, Kinross is keenly Testing Power Ram Turbo II air filter pre-cleaners on one of their 793D haul trucks. A trial conducted over 250 hours by the company found that using an OEM standard set up resulted in 50% more contaminant reaching the engine air filter than with the Turbo II Power Ram.
The estimated reduction in contamination is expected to see the Power Ram air cleaner at least double the life cycle of a truck’s air filter. With elements costing around $300 and there being four in a truck’s system, their cost is $1200 – replaceable every 250 hours. This equates to 30 changes a year! By using the Power Ram Turbo II precleaners, the services will reduce to 15 saving $21,000 per year per truck – giving an ROI of about 7 months.
The reality is that OEM supplied precleaners are not as effective as the Turbo II, particylarly in extremely dusty conditions. The Turbo 11 Pre-Cleaners remove up to 98% of dirt, dust, rain and snow before reaching the air filter, thereby greatly prolonging air filter life, as well as saving fuel, maximising power and extending engine life. Furthermore, they cause half the air flow restriction that most OEM pre-cleaners do.
Equipment Placement can specify and install the right Turbo II Pre-cleaner for your equipment, both new and retrofit. Installation is simple, requiring about 3-4 hours
